[ Proclamation No. 343, March 20, 1994 ]

DECLARING THE YEAR 1994 AS “U.P. ALUMNI YEAR” AND AUTHORIZING THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE U.P. ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT A NATIONWIDE FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD OF APRIL 1, 1994 TO MARCH 31, 1995

WHEREAS, The University of the Philippines, the State University of the Republic, has significantly served the nation in spearheading highest quality of education for Filipinos since 1908, and has produced some of the most outstanding leaders of our country;

WHEREAS, The U.P. Alumni Association, an association of distinguished alumni of the State University, is engaged in a meritorious program of establishing a U.P. Alumni Convention, Recreational and Multi-Service Center which will provide international convention facilities (the only one of its kind in Quezon City), and Service Center which will provide free medical, legal aid, and social services to indigents in the area;

WHEREAS, the U.P. Alumni Association needs the support of the general public and the citizenry in realizing this worthy endeavor;

NOW, THEREFORE, I FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim the year 1994 as “U.P. Alumni Year” and also hereby authorize the University of the Philippines and the U.P. Alumni Association to conduct a national fund campaign from 1 April 1994 to 31 March 1995.1aшphi1

For this purpose, all donations, requests and gifts received by the U.P. Alumni Association for the implementation of its programs and activities shall be entitled to all the tax exemptions and deductibility benefits provided in the appropriate provisions of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended, and its implementing rules and regulations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
