DECLARING MARCH 20 OF EVERY YEAR AS DON BENITO T. SOLIVEN DAY IN STO. DOMINGO, ILOCOS SUR

WHEREAS, the townspeople of Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur, would like to commemorate the noble deeds of the late Benito T. Soliven, a dedicated parliamentarian and gallant soldier of World War II who fought in Bataan and died in the Death March;

WHEREAS, Honorable Benito T. Soliven symbolizes integrity and patriotism, virtues that his townmates want to perpetuate and serve as inspiration for present and future generations;

WHEREAS, the people of Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur, where Don Benito T. Soliven was born, should be afforded an opportunity to honor him with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Sunday, March 20, 1994, and March 20 of every year thereafter, as Don Benito T. Soliven Day in Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur. The day shall be a regular working and school day.
