[ Proclamation No. 322, February 2, 1994 ]

DECLARING FEBRUARY 2 TO 8 OF EVERY YEAR AS CONSTITUTION WEEK

WHEREAS, it is fitting to focus on the Constitution, as the fundamental law of the land that envisions a just and humane society and a government that embodies the ideals and aspirations of the Filipino people, promotes the common good, and secure to themselves and their posterity the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace;

WHEREAS, in order to strengthen the commitment to the principles of Constitutional democracy, it is appropriate that a full week be set aside as CONSTITUTION WEEK for nationwide commemoration of the significance of the Constitution;

WHEREAS, the Constitution was ratified overwhelmingly by the Filipino people in a plebiscite held on February 2, 1987; and

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 211, dated January 29, 1988, had declared February 2 of every year as Constitution Day, and Proclamation No. 515, dated January 15, 1990, declared February 2 to 8, 1990 as Constitution Week.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare February 2 to 8 of every year as CONSTITUTION WEEK.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
