DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 24 TO MARCH 2, 1994 AS

“ASEAN ORCHID WEEK”

WHEREAS, the government recognizes the high value and export potential of the cutflower industry;

WHEREAS, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) recognizes the increasing contribution to their economy of the development of their cutflower industry;

WHEREAS, orchid is one of the major cutflower products of the ASEAN member countries;

WHEREAS, one of the areas of cooperation among the ASEAN is in the field of orchid development;

WHEREAS, the 9th ASEAN Orchid Congress, which is a biennial activity of the ASEAN will be hosted by the Philippines on February 24 to March 2, 1994;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period February 24, to March 2, 1994, as “ASEAN ORCHID WEEK.”

For this purpose, the Department of Agriculture is hereby directed to be the lead agency in undertaking the appropriate activities in celebration thereof.1aшphi1

All Heads of Departments, Offices, Agencies, Local Governments, and Instrumentalities of the government are hereby directed to extend their full support and cooperation and contribute their resources to the Department of Agriculture in the conduct of the 9th ASEAN Orchid Congress and in the celebration of the ASEAN ORCHID WEEK.

All Non-Governmental Organizations, Cooperatives and the Private Sector are likewise enjoined to lend their utmost support and cooperation in these activities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
