[ Proclamation No. 880, March 18, 1992 ]

DECLARING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCES OF ILOILO, BUKIDNON, DAVAO DEL SUR, SOUTH COTABATO, MAGUINDANAO AND NORTH COTABATO IN VIEW OF THE ADVERSE EFFECTS OF DROUGHT IN SAID AREAS.

WHEREAS, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), recommends the declaration of a state of public calamity in the aforesaid provinces in view of the adverse effect of drought in said areas;

WHEREAS, according to reports received from the Department of Agriculture, the drought has affected rice and corn crops with 40% and 55%, respectively, of the total 187,698 hectares hardest hit of badly affected agricultural lands resulting in the total estimated opportunity loss at Two Billion Forty Million Pesos which includes loses to vegetables, fruit trees and other crops;

WHEREAS, declaration of a state of public calamity in the abovementioned provinces will facilitate the provision of appropriate rehabilitation measures and assistance normally extended by the concerned agencies, particularly the Department of Agriculture, to the drought-stricken farmers.

NOW, THEREFORE, I CORAZON C. AQUINONOW, THEREFORE, I , President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare a state of public calamity in the provinces of Iloilo, Bukidnon, Davao del Sur, South Cotabato, Maguindanao and North Cotabato.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.ℒαwρhi৷
