[ Proclamation No. 846, December 20, 1991 ]

DECLARING DECEMBER 21-27, 1991 AND EVERY YEAR  THEREAFTER AS “NATIONAL AIDS AWARENESS WEEK”

WHEREAS, the 42nd World Health Assembly passed Resolution No. WHA42.33 noting the higher level of interest in maintaining World AIDS Day as annual focus of global AIDS prevention and central activity, under the theme “AIDS – Sharing the Challenge”;

WHEREAS, as medical science practitioners continue to search for a cure for the dreaded disease, there is an imperative need to pursue information dissemination campaign on the ill-effects of AIDS and its preventive measures;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the power vested in me by law, do hereby declare December 21-27, 1991, and every year thereafter, as “National AIDS Awareness Week” under the auspices of the Department of Health.ℒαwρhi৷

I call upon all residents, regardless of race or creed, the public and private sectors, institutions and organizations to lend their full support and assistance to make the observance of “National AIDS Awareness Week” meaningful and success.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
