DECLARING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN EIGHT (8) MUNICIPALITIES OF SURIGAO DEL SUR

WHEREAS, the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council of Region XI requested the declaration of a state of public calamity in eight municipalities of Surigao del Sur which were badly hit and affected by typhoon “Auring” and flashfloods on March 12, 1991;

WHEREAS, the Secretary of National Defense and Chairman, NDCC, recommended such declaration of a state of public calamity in eight municipalities of Surigao del Sur to uplift the morale of disaster victims, speed up relief and rehabilitation efforts of the government and facilitate the return to normalcy of livelihood in the said municipalities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare a state of public calamity in eight (8) municipalities of Surigao del Sur, namely: Carascal, Cantilan, Madrid, Lanuza, Carmen, Cortes, Tandag and San Miguel.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in these provinces in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.ℒαwρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
