DECLARING MONDAY, APRIL 22, 1991 AS “EARTH DAY 1991”

WHEREAS, the gravity of environment degradation and destruction in the country threatens the very quality of life of many Filipinos;

WHEREAS, the denudation of our forests and the current drought exhibit most dramatically the plight of our environment;

WHEREAS, the support of the citizenry is vital to the success of measures directed at the improvement and conservation of our environment;

WHEREAS, public awareness is essential to the initiation of widespread civic action protective of the environment;

WHEREAS, Earth Day 1991 is a special occasion to be celebrated all over the world on April 22, 1991 as a signal of commitment to the conservation of the environment.ℒαwρhi৷

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Tuesday, April 22, 1991, as “Earth Day 1991.”

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
