[ Proclamation No. 644, September 10, 1990 ]

DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN AURORA PROVINCE WHICH ALSO SUFFERED HEAVILY FROM THE EFFECTS OF JULY 16, 1990 EARTHQUAKE.

WHEREAS, representations made by the affected local disaster coordinating councils revealed that several barangays located at the foot of the mountains had been isolated for quite sometime resulting in the delay of reporting the situation in the affected areas;

WHEREAS, roads, bridges and schoolbuildings in said province were destroyed by the earthquake;

WHEREAS, according to the Chairman of the NDCC, the declaration of a state of public calamity will facilitate the extension of rehabilitation assistance to the province of Aurora, particularly the hardest hit town which is Dingalan;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim that a state of public calamity exists in the province of Aurora.ℒαwρhi৷

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
