DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN CERTAIN AREAS OF REGIONS I AND III

WHEREAS, Regions I and III suffered heavily from the strong earthquake that hit Metro Manila and Luzon yesterday;

WHEREAS, a state of public calamity exists in these earthquake-stricken areas of Regions I and III;

WHEREAS, the declaration of a state of public calamity in the said areas will ensure the expeditious delivery of relief and rehabilitation services by the concerned agencies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO> President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim that a state of public calamity exists in the following areas in Regions I and III:

Region I

Province Pangasinan
City Dagupan City
San Carlos City
Province Benguet
City Baguio City

Region III

Province Nueva Ecija
City Cabanatuan City
Palayan City
San Jose City

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.ℒαwρhi৷
