[ Proclamation No. 591, June 21, 1990 ]

PROCLAIMING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCE OF ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE.

WHEREAS, according to the Secretary of National Defense, Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, the Province of Zamboanga del Norte suffered heavy damage and destruction to life, private properties, public infrastructures and agricultural crops as a result of the continuous heavy rains, strong winds and flash floods during the second week of June 1990.

WHEREAS, there is urgent need for the declaration of a state of public calamity in the said province to normalize the situation and hasten the rehabilitation efforts of the concerned line member-agencies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim that a state of public calamity exists in the Province of Zamboanga del Norte.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.
