DECLARING THE SOUTH POINT ISLAND AND ADJOINING AREAS OF BARANGAY LAPAZ, MUNICIPALITY OF NUEVA VALENCIA, SUB-PROVINCE OF GUIMARAS, PROVINCE OF ILOILO, AS TAKLONG ISLAND NATIONAL MARINE RESERVE

Upon recommendation of the Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, and pursuant to the authority vested in me by law, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, do hereby set aside as Taklong Island National Marine Reserve, for the benefit and enjoyment of the Filipino people under the administration of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, subject to private rights, if any there be, the South point Island and adjoining areas of Barangay Lapaz, Municipality of Nueva Valencia, Sub-province of Guimaras, Province of Iloilo, as shown in the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau Map, with the following description:

Beginning from point 1, which is N 8 deg. E and 810 meters from BBM # 11 Nueva Valencia, Sub-province of Guimaras.

Thence following coastline generally Southwest direction about 1,300 meters to point 2;

Thence following coastline generally Northeast direction about 610 meters to point 3;

Thence following coastline generally Southeast direction about 945 meters to point 4;

Thence following coastline generally Southeast direction about 840 meters to point 5;

Thence following coastline generally Southeast direction about 565 meters to point 6;

Thence due South direction about 826 meters to point 7;

Thence due West direction about 3,650 meters to point 8

Thence due North direction about 3,636 meters to point 9;

Thence due East direction about 2,700 meters to point of origin, containing an area of 1,143.45 hectares more or less.

The primary purpose for the establishment of this national marine reserve is to protect and preserve the ecological, scenic, scientific and educational features of the area including the marine wildlife resources found therein.ℒαwρhi৷ The management and development of the area shall be undertaken to uplift the social and economic welfare of the people thereat.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
