[ Proclamation No. 516, January 24, 1990 ]

DECLARING MONDAY AND TUESDAY, JANUARY 29 AND 30, 1990 AS NON-WORKING SPECIAL DAYS IN THE PROVINCES OF BENGUET, MOUNTAIN PROVINCE, IFUGAO, ABRA AND KALINGA-APAYAO, AND THE CHARTERED CITY OF BAGUIO

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2226 dated December 27, 1989 of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) amended and revised the Calendar of Activities as earlier provided for in COMELEC Resolution No. 2166, by, among others, resetting the plebiscite date for the Cordillera Autonomous Region on January 30, 1990 in the provinces of Benguet, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Abra and Kalinga-Apayao, and the Chartered City of Baguio;

WHEREAS, to enable the residents of the said provinces and the city to participate actively in the plebiscite, there is a need to declare the plebiscite day and the day prior thereto as special days;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday and Tuesday, January 29 and 30, 1990 as non-working special days in the provinces of Benguet, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Abra and Kalinga-Apayao, and the Chartered City of Baguio.
