[ Proclamation No. 331, September 27, 1988 ]

DECLARING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, AS “BALANGIGA DAY” IN THE PROVINCE OF EASTERN SAMAR.

WHEREAS, September 28, 1988 marks the 87th anniversary of Philippine-American War of 1898-1902 known as the “Balangiga Day” in Eastern Samar; and

WHEREAS, the people of Eastern Samar should be given the opportunity to commemorate the event with appropriate ceremony.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Wednesday, September 28, 1988, as “Balangiga Day” in the province of Eastern Samar. The day, however, shall be a regular working and school day.
