BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

[ Proclamation No. 309, August 23, 1988 ]

AUTHORIZING THE GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR.

WHEREAS, the Goodwill Industries of the Philippines, Inc., a non-profit, non-stock, civic organization, is engaged in a wide-range program embracing vocational training, testing and evaluation, placement and other rehabilitation services to further inspire and fortify the handicapped to lead a productive life with dignity and pride;

WHEREAS, in the attainment of its aims and objectives, the Goodwill Industries of the Philippines, Inc., helps in the social and economic development of the nation through the utilization of the capabilities of the handicapped;

WHEREAS, Goodwill Industries of the Philippines, Inc., is a welcomed and needed support of the government in the national effort toward the total rehabilitation program for the welfare of four and a half million handicapped in the Philippines; and

WHEREAS, in order to carry out the worthy objectives of the Goodwill Industries of the Philippines, Inc., it needs the continued support and cooperation of the public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Goodwill Industries of the Philippines, Inc., to conduct a national educational fund campaign for a period of one (1) year effective upon the promulgation of this Proclamation.

Contributions or gifts actually paid or made within the taxable year to be Foundation shall be governed by the provisions of Section 30, par. (h), of the National Internal Revenue Code as amended by Executive Order (E.O.) No. 37, dated July 31, 1986, and renumbered as Section 29, under E.O. No. 273, dated July 25, 1987.
