[ Proclamation No. 270, June 10, 1988 ]

AUTHORIZING THE NATIONAL MUSEUM TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN FOR THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 12, 1988 TO JUNE 12, 1989.

WHEREAS, Article II, Section 17 of the 1987 Constitution declares as a state policy, that, among other things, it shall “give priority to . . . arts and culture to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote total human liberation and development”;

WHEREAS, the National Museum has been established to serve as the repository for the countrys historic and cultural treasures to enhance the Filipinos racial pride and identity;

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the National Museum to be rehabilitated and strengthened in order that it may more efficiently and effectively undertake its unique role in nation-building; and

WHEREAS, the rehabilitation of the National Museum should be the concern of all Filipinos, and should have their unstinting support, monetary and otherwise;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the National Museum to conduct a national educational and fund campaign for the period June 12, 1988 to June 12, 1989.1aшphi1
