[ Proclamation No. 238, April 4, 1988 ]

DECLARING MAY 17-23 OF EVERY YEAR AS “NATIONAL ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK”

WHEREAS, telecommunications plays a vital role in the development and growth of the nations economy, thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic and political development of the country;

WHEREAS, there is a need to solidify the gains realized under a truly democratic society through effective and efficient means of processing and transferring information to the greatest number of our people; and

WHEREAS, there is also a need to focus public attention on the significant role of telecommunications in the national development program of the Government;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from May 17-23 of every year, as “National Electronics and Telecommunications Week”.ℒαwρhi৷

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
