[ Proclamation No. 209, January 23, 1988 ]

DECLARING JANUARY 25, 1988, FEBRUARY 1, 8, AND 15, 1988, AS SPECIAL DAYS IN CERTAIN PROVINCES, CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES.

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 1 of R.A. No. 6636, as amended by R.A. No. 6637, calling for the holding of elections of local officials on January 18, 1988, the President issued Proclamation No. 205, dated January 15, 1988, declaring January 18, 1988, as special day throughout the Philippines to give the people fullest opportunity to participate in said elections;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Elections postponed the holding of local elections in certain areas of the country due to unstable conditions obtaining therein and reset the same to different dates;

WHEREAS, the days scheduled by the Commission on Elections for local elections in said areas should likewise be declared special days to give the electorate thereat the same opportunity to exercise their right of suffrage.ℒαwρhi৷

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the following dates as special days in the respective provinces, cities and municipalities hereunder specified:

January 25, 1988

1. Abra

2. Quezon

3. Ilocos Sur

4. Ifugao

5. Maguindanao including Cotabato City

February 1, 1988

1. Lanao del Sur

2. Lanao del Norte

3. Northern Samar

4. Leyte

February 8, 1988

1. Tawi-Tawi

2. Sta. Ana, Pampanga

February 15, 1988

1. Sulu
