[ Proclamation No. 205, January 15, 1988 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, JANUARY 18, 1988, AS SPECIAL DAY THROUGHOUT THE PHILIPPINES.

WHEREAS, Section 1 of R.A. No. 6636, as amended by R.A. No. 6637, provides that the first elections of local officials will be held on Monday, January 18, 1988;

WHEREAS, Monday, January 18, 1988, should be declared a special day to give the people fullest opportunity to participate in the said elections;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, January 18, 1988, as special day throughout the Philippines.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 15th day of January in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-eight.
