[ Proclamation No. 78, February 27, 1987 ]

DECLARING A PERIOD OF NATIONAL MOURNING OVER THE DEATH OF JOSE W. DIOKNO, SENATOR OF THE REPUBLIC

WHEREAS, the death of Jose W. Diokno, Senator of the Republic, jurist, nationalist and statesman, is a great loss to our people and has caused deep sorrow among them;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim a period of national mourning of ten (10) days beginning March 2, 1987 for our beloved Senator Jose W. Diokno. During this period, flags of all government buildings and installations throughout the country shall be flown at half mast.
