[ Proclamation No. 183, November 10, 1987 ]

DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN THE PROVINCES OF ILOCOS SUR, ILOCOS NORTE, ISABELA, NUEVA VIZCAYA, LA UNION AND BATANES.

WHEREAS, due to heavy damage to crops, livestock and property wrought by typhoon “Pepang”, the existence of a state of public calamity in the Province of Cagayan was declared under Proclamation No. 175 dated October 27, 1987, and the same was expanded to include the Provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga Apayao, and Mt. Province, including Baguio city, all within the Cordillera Administrative Region, under Proclamation No. 178 dated October 30, 1987; and

WHEREAS, the Provinces of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, La Union and Batanes have also suffered damage to crops, livestock and properties caused by the same typhoon “Pepang”, which likewise necessitates the declaration of a state of public calamity in said provinces.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim that a state of public calamity exists in the following areas in Northern Luzon: Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, La Union and Batanes.

All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and the directive and order issued in connection with calamities.1aшphi1
