[ Proclamation No. 40, October 27, 1986 ]

DECLARING THE THIRTY FIRST OF OCTOBER NINETEEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS “EVELIO B. JAVIER DAY” AND A SPECIAL NON-WORKING PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR THE PROVINCE OF ANTIQUE AND ROXAS CITY THEREIN.

WHEREAS, on Friday, October 31, 1986, marks the birthday of Evelio B. Javier, a noble son of Antique who in his lifetime pursued the dream of someday seeing freedom, justice and truth reign in his hometown and whose death contributed to the people’s protest against violence and terrorism;

WHEREAS, the people of Antique, his birthplace, desire to celebrate his natal day with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the thirty-first day of October, 1986, and every year thereafter as “Evelio B. Javier Day” and a special non-working public holiday in the Province of Antique and Roxas City therein.
