[ Proclamation No. 38, October 24, 1986 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1986, AS DAY OF PEACE IN THE PHILIPPINES.

WHEREAS, His Holiness Pope John Paul II, the spiritual leader of Catholics all over the world has declared Monday, October 27, 1986, as a Day of Peace;

WHEREAS, the Philippines being the only predominantly Christian nation in the Far East recognizes the significance of such an event and is committed to support all efforts to attain world peace; and

WHEREAS, this commitment of the Filipino people had been recently demonstrated that saw them regain their freedom through a peaceful and bloodless revolution and in their reconciliatory approach in solving the insurgency problem.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, October 27, 1986, as Day of Peace in the Philippines. I enjoin all citizens and residents, regardless of faith, color or creed, to participate in all the activities planned to commemorate the day.1aшphi1
