[ Proclamation No. 2473, January 7, 1986 ]

PROCLAIMING THE CREATION OF THE PROVINCE OF NEGROS DEL NORTE BY SEPARATING THREE CITIES AND EIGHT MUNICIPALITIES FROM NEGROS OCCIDENTAL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RESULTS OF THE PLEBISCITE CONDUCTED PURSUANT TO BATAS PAMBANSA BLG. 885.

On the basis of the report of the Commission on Elections dated January 7, 1986 on the official results of the plebiscite held on January 3, 1986 separating three cities and eight municipalities from Negros Occidental to be constituted into a new province to be known as the Province of Negros del Norte, said plebiscite having been conducted pursuant to Batas Pambansa Blg. 885, together with the Commission on Elections’ Certificate of Canvass of the votes in said plebiscite showing 164,734 affirmative votes and 30,400 negative votes, and pursuant to the authority vested in me by law, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim the creation of the Province of Negros del Norte consisting of the cities of Cadiz, Silay and San Carlos, and the municipalities of Escalante, Toboso, Sagay, Manapla, Victorias, S. Benedicto, E. B. Magalona and Calatrava.
