[ Proclamation No. 2394, January 11, 1985 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE BADMINTON ASSOCIATION TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM 1 DECEMBER 1984 TO 30 NOVEMBER 1985

WHEREAS, sports play a vital role in fostering unity and understanding and in spurring human developments;

WHEREAS, the promotion of sports for physical fitness and development of moral qualities of the citizenry is of vital concern to society and all efforts should be exerted in that direction;

WHEREAS, badminton has yet to be developed as a national sport with the end in view of encouraging more Filipinos to indulge therein and hopefully produce players who would excel in international and world tournaments;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) under its new leadership has launched a program to promote and advance the interest of badminton in the Philippines which includes countryside selection and intensive training of badminton players for future international competitions such as the Asian and SEA Games;

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 2314 issued on 26 September 1983 authorizing the PBA to conduct a national fund campaign to support its program expired on 30 September 1984;

WHEREAS, there is a need to extend such fund campaign in order to sustain the badminton development program in the country towards its successful completion;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Badminton Association to extend its national fund campaign for another period from 1 December 1984 to 30 November 1985.

I call upon all citizens and residents, regardless of nationality or creed, as well as business firms, civic, religious and educational institutions to support actively and give generously to this fund campaign of the PBA which will enhance the development of badminton in the country.

It is hereby reiterated that all donations or contributions under this proclamation shall constitute allowable deductions in full from income of the donors and contributions for income tax purpose. These donations and contributions for PBA are likewise tax exempt.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
