AUTHORIZING THE PARTICIPATION ON OFFICIAL TRAVEL OF PROFESSIONAL FORESTERS IN GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS, AND STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES IN THE "NATIONAL CONVENTION AND A FORUM ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE UPLAND DEVELOPMENT", SPONSORED BY THE SOCIETY OF FILIPINO FORESTERS, INC. IN SUPPORT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MALACANANG ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 171 (2007) AND EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 606 (2007)

The Society of Filipino Foresters, Inc., in line with its 60th Anniversary, will be holding its National Convention and a Forum on Climate Change and Sustainable Upland Development on September 17 to 19, 2008 at the Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City in support of the implementation of Malacaņang Administrative Order No. 171, entitled "Creating the Presidential Task Force on Climate Change" and Executive Order No. 606, entitled "Pursuing Sustainable Upland Development Anchoring on Food, Wood and Non-Wood Security and Economic Productivity."

The Convetion and Forum will be a good opportunity for Professional Foresters to take part thereon, and expect to develop strategies and formulate appropriate policies that may be adopted by both government and private sectors in addressing climate change and ensuring food, wood/non-wood security and economic productivity through sustainable upland development.1âшphi1

In this regard, Professional Foresters in government agencies, local government units and state colleges and universities are hereby authorized to attend the abovementioned convention and forum on official travel, subject to the availability of funds from their respective offices and provided that such attendance will not adversely affect the functions of their respective offices as well as the delivery of basic services to the public.
