RESOLUTION No. 3308

REQUEST FOR THE CONCURRENCE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES IN THE DEPUTATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND INSTRUMENTALITIES OF THE GOVERNMENT INCLUDING THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES TO ENSURE FREE, ORDERLY, HONEST, PEACEFUL AND CREDIBLE MAY 14, 2001 NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS

WHEREAS, to ensure the holding of free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible May 14, 2001 national and local elections, the Commission on Elections, by virtue of the powers vested in it by the Constitution, the Omnibus Election Code, and other election laws, is empowered to deputize law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the government, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, to perform duties relative to the conduct of the elections; and

WHEREAS, under Sec. 2, par. (4) of Article IX, C, of the Constitution, such deputation requires the concurrence of the President of the Republic of the Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Commission on Elections RESOLVES to request, as it hereby requests, the concurrence of the President of the Philippines in its deputation of law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the government, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, in connection with the May 14, 2001 national and local elections.

The Executive Director is hereby directed to forward to His Excellency, the President of the Philippines through the Honorable Executive Secretary. Malacañang, Manila, a copy of this Resolution and Resolution No. 3309, promulgated on 07 November 2000.
